The International Spirit of Math Contest, presented by Spirit of Math®, is a premier global mathematics competition that inspires students to think creatively, solve challenging problems, and develop a lifelong love for math.

For over 30 years, Spirit of Math has been a global leader in math enrichment for high-performing students and a trusted provider of professional development for educators. Today, more than 11,000 students attend classes across 30 campuses in Canada, with programs and partnerships expanding worldwide.

Through after-school classes, international contests, camps, workbooks, and teacher training, Spirit of Math is transforming how mathematics is taught and learned. Since 1992, our students have consistently earned places on national and international mathematics honour rolls, and our alumni have gone on to attend top universities around the world.

Held globally, the International Spirit of Math Contest gives students from grades 1 to 8 the opportunity to prepare, apply, and showcase their knowledge on the global stage. The contest provides an opportunity for students to have fun and to develop their mathematical problem-solving abilities.

For Grade 1 to Grade 8 Students

• Multiple-choice questions, no calculators.
• Timed by grade: Grades 1–2: 30 min | Grades 3–4: 45 min | Grades 5–8: 60 min

National Round:
• Top 5% — Gold Award | Next 10% — Silver Award | Next 25% — Bronze Award
• Students scoring 80% or higher appear on the National Honour Roll at

Global Round:
• Top 5% — Gold Medal | Next 10% — Silver Medal | Next 25% — Bronze Medal | Next 60% —
Merit Award
• All Global Round participants receive a Certificate of Achievement and a medal for their award level.
